History

The Nsawam Road Church of Christ was established in November 1968. The Lord through Bro. Daniel Ampadu-Asiamah, with encouragement from his lecturers Gerald Fruzie and Samuel Obeng, started the church as Accra Church of Christ in Kaneshie after studying with prospects that had enrolled in Bible Corresponding Courses. Later that year, Daniel and the members moved the activities of the church to a rented property at Adabraka. In 1969, the church settled at the Mission House at Osu RE, which was occupied by the late Bro. George Boersman (First Missionary to Accra) and his wife Ida and 2 children. In 1970, the Accra Church of Christ under the ministry of Daniel Ampadu-Asiamah experienced tremendous growth in numbers and spiritually with the introduction of the Men Training Class on Saturdays. That same year, the Church bought a factory building at Kokomlemle. The church moved from Osu on the 1st Sunday of November 1971 to form the Nsawam Road Church of Christ. This Church premises later housed the Accra School of Preaching and the National Bible Institute (now known as Heritage Christian College): From 1972, the church established several congregations in the Greater Accra, Eastern, Western, Central and the Volta regions under Daniel’s leadership. He also teamed up with other preachers to establish congregations in various parts of the country.  Later in 1974, some members with the blessing of the church leadership moved back to the Osu RE Mission House under the leadership of Bro Titus Agyare and became the Osu RE Church of Christ. This led to two congregations in Accra.

Our Unique Identity

Our Origin; we derive our roots from the church Jesus Christ promised to build which was gloriously revealed in AD 33 on the first day of Pentecost after his resurrection.

Our Governance; Christ is our Head and Chief Bishop, and His word is our direction. After Christ is our body of Elders/Bishops who shepherd us, ably assisted by our Deacons who work through various ministries to promote our growth.

Our Worship; Our worship is patterned after Christ’s church as presented in the New Testament of the Holy scriptures. We have been made abled ministers or worshippers of a New Covenant, not of the Old

Our Membership; our members are ‘the saved’, people (called out from all corners of the world) who have received the free gift of salvation through believing the Gospel and committing themselves to Christ through baptism.

Our Purpose; Our purpose is to fulfil our role in the eternal plan of God by displaying His manifold wisdom to all mankind thereby drawing them into the light of God’s saving grace.

Our Destination; Our hope and certain future is to live in everlasting fellowship with our God in Heaven.
